"Statistics 102" for Multisource-Multitarget Detection and Tracking
نویسنده
چکیده
This tutorial paper summarizes the motivations, concepts and techniques of finite-set statistics (FISST), a systemlevel, “top-down,” direct generalization of ordinary single-sensor, single-target engineering statistics to the realm of multisensor, multitarget detection and tracking. Finite-set statistics provides powerful new conceptual and computational methods for dealing with multisensor-multitarget detection and tracking problems. The paper describes how “multitarget integro-differential calculus” is used to extend conventional single-sensor, single-target formal Bayesian motion and measurement modeling to general tracking problems. Given such models, the paper describes the Bayes-optimal approach to multisensor-multitarget detection and tracking: the multisensor-multitarget recursive Bayes filter. Finally, it describes how multitarget calculus is used to derive principled statistical approximations of this optimal filter, such as PHD filters, CPHD filters, and multi-Bernoulli filters.

Random Finite Set Theory for Tracking
There already exist some summaries about the use of the theory of random finite sets (RFS) for data fusion which are written by people with a deeper understanding of the theory than myself. In particular, I would recommend “’Statistics 101’ for Multisensor, Multitarget Data Fusion”[7] which is a 10 page long introduction to the motivation and idea behind the RFS approach written by Mahler. متن کاملA shrinkage probability hypothesis density filter for multitarget tracking
In radar systems, tracking targets in low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) environments is a very important task. There are some algorithms designed for multitarget tracking. Their performances, however, are not satisfactory in low SNR environments. Track-before-detect (TBD) algorithms have been developed as a class of improved methods for tracking in low SNR environments. However, multitarget TBD i...
متن کاملDistributed Multitarget Tracking and Identity Management
The problem of tracking multiple targets and managing their identities in sensor networks is considered. Each sensor is assumed to have its own surveillance region and an ability to communicate with its neighboring sensors. We propose a scalable, distributed, multitarget-tracking and identity-management algorithm that can track an unknown number of targets and manage their identities efficiently...
متن کاملA Survey of Recent Advances in Particle Filters and Remaining Challenges for Multitarget Tracking
We review some advances of the particle filtering (PF) algorithm that have been achieved in the last decade in the context of target tracking, with regard to either a single target or multiple targets in the presence of false or missing data. The first part of our review is on remarkable achievements that have been made for the single-target PF from several aspects including importance proposal...
متن کاملMultitarget Detection/Tracking for Monostatic Ground Penetrating Radar: Application to Pavement Prof - Geoscience and Remote Sensing, IEEE Transactions on
Monostatic ground penetrating radar (GPR) has proven to be a useful technique in pavement profiling. In road and highway pavements, layer thickness and permittivity of asphalt and concrete can be estimated by using an inverse scattering approach. Layer-stripping inversion refers to the iterative estimation of layer properties from amplitude and time of delay (TOD) of echoes after their detectio...
